Secondary School includes grades 7 and 8. It is set at the corner of the property and its location will form a “gateway” for the entire neighborhood. The Atrium forms an integral part of the “21st Century Learning” Curriculum implemented by the Board. It is an active, social space which includes the Café, Auditorium, Art Gallery and student collaboration spaces. The entire educational program of the school, including future additions, is organized into “Fingers”. The Atrium acts as a “Main Street” which connects educational “Fingers”. This secondary school is one of the first schools in Ontario, designed to support 21st Century Learning skills.
The school “Campus” is designed around the landscaped open spaces such as: landscaped entry plaza, outdoor courtyard, outdoor teaching areas, sport fields and gardens to promote healthy living. The visible components of the building are designed as ‘teaching tools’.
