West Carleton Secondary School - Addition

The new wing addition includes eight new classrooms, four specialty learning spaces including a Science and Technology Classroom, Fitness Room, Music Room, and Theatre Art Room. A new Atrium connected to the adjacent Theatre Art Room through an interior window makes these two spaces communal, encouraging collaboration, and creating a public forum for celebrating and observing student work. Through visual transparency - by looking through a window - a public conversation is created about teaching and learning.

A new informal courtyard was also created between the existing school building and the addition. An outdoor space with stone benches provides an active academic environment for congregations, discussions and recreational activities.
